ENGL 745: Communication Strategies for Emerging Media
Wordpress Blog:
Throughout the course I read articles relating to information society and I think most of my posts focused on a changing society. My focus was usually on my experiences but I think most of my posts can be related to a global society. The information and communication technologies and communication styles I spoke about in my posts can be applied to a variety of different areas. This online blog was an interesting experience for me. I had never blogged before starting the course and there was a bit of a learning curve trying to get used to blogging. However, once I settled in, I found that using photos, videos and links were a great way to enhance the text. This blog made me think critically about what I was reading and apply my knowledge and what I read to the world around me.
Technology Literacy Narrative:
This paper was written from my perspective. I covered a broad overview of my life with technology. This was an interesting assignment because I had to reflect on my own uses of different types of technology throughout the years. Looking back, I wish I could have been a little more creative with this paper and given more examples. I think I did a nice job identifying my weaknesses and the future goals I have for use with technology.
Final Paper:
This paper covers a brief history of ICT use in Africa and the philosophical, sociological, psychological effects of cell phones in use there. In addition, I focused on the political implications and touched on the multiculturalism that cell phone influences make on the society and economy. This paper was challenging and and I hope is full of insights into a third-world country just trying to advance itself globally. I learned a lot and this paper really gave me a global look on the effects of ICT which differs greatly from my usually local or national views on the subject.
